  • Dr. William A. McBride, III- Dr. McBride is a Clinical Psychologist, licenses in both Texas and Louisiana.  He earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Fielding Institute  in Santa Barbara, California and has done specialty training at Harvard University with Dr. Samuel Osherson in Men;s Issues, and attended Neuropathology Conferences through LSU Medical School under Dr. Larry Embree, Neurologist. He has also completed advanced training in Neuropsychology, Geriatric Psychology, Hypnotherapy, Health Psychology, and Psychopharmacology. He holds a Master's of Science Degree in psychopharmacology from Alliant University. In addition, he is certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He is on staff at East Texas Medical Center in Athens, Texas and is owner and Clinical Director of East Texas Psychological Services. He has worked in mental health services for over 49 years. He is currently preparing for the Psychopharmacology Boards through the American Psychological Association for licensure as a Medical Psychologist in Louisiana. Dr. McBride takes great pride in his association with the Medical Community of Athens, Texas and the surrounding area. He is a perpetual student and teacher and is active in the Texas and Lousiana Psychological Association. He carries a full time practice at East Texas Psychological Services which is comprised of psychotherapy with both young and mature adults, consultation in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the region, consulting at the local hospital, testing and psychotherapy for Texas Department of Child Protective Services, and testing for ADHD, Depression etc. and for differential diagnosis/treatment planning with adults, children, and older citizens. He is currently enjoying incorporating Mindfulness, as per the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, into his eclectic treatment approach.

  • Dr. Dawn M. Lowe- Dr. Dawn Lowe graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2019 with her doctoral degree in School Psychology. Prior to receiving her doctorate, she worked at East Texas Psychological Services as a Licensed Psychological Associate for 5 years. Dawn also worked as an educator in the East Texas area for 9 years before specializing in mental health. She has been in private practice for the past 8 years, specializing in psychological assessment, individual counseling, family counseling, and child and adolescent therapy. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.

  • Dr. Robert C. Nicks- Dr. Robert Nicks is a psychologist who obtained his PhD from Stephen F. Austin where he graduated from the School Psychology dual licensure readiness program for prospective Licensed Psychologists and Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, and he carries those licenses. He has two years of experience working in Texas public schools providing therapy, assessment, and behavior management services for children and teens. He has five years of clinical experience providing psychological assessment and therapy using mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and person centered therapy approaches in office, assisted living, and skilled nursing facility settings. 

  • William Pace, MA LPC, LPCS- William is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He attended the University of Texas at Tyler where he received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. William specializes in adolescents and young adults with focus in Client Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He has 10 years of experience. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, going to concerts and playing video games.

  • Kathy McLelland, MA LPC- Kathy is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She attended The University of Texas at Tyler where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in education; she also attended Texas A&M Commerce where she received her Master's degree in Counseling.  She also holds a Fine Arts degree in Music from Tyler Junior College. Kathy has worked as an educator in the East Texas area for 17 years and was a school counselor for 9 years. She has been in practice for the last 12 years, specializing in child and adolescent therapy. In her free time she enjoys attending her granddaughters school activities and cattle ranching with her husband of 40 years.

  • Lynn Negrete, MA LPC- Lynn is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she received a Master in Counseling Psychology with a Minor in Addiction. Lynn takes a holistic approach to healing while offering seventeen years of experience in helping couples, families, and individuals. She specializes in trauma and addiction in teens and adults. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her dogs, nature walks, as well as cooking and photography.

  • Andrea Ellison, LCSW-Intern Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) wo obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas and her Master’s Degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. As a social worker, Andrea has worked providing drug and alcohol prevention and intervention education in school settings and in the community. She has also worked in case management in skilled nursing facilities for 10+ years when she felt called to field of counseling. In her free time she cherishes time with family and friends and enjoys baking and trying new recipes.

  • Curtis Pickle, MA LPC- Curtis is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He attended North Texas State University where he received a Masters of Education with a minor in clinical psychology. He has provided counseling services for over thirty years to adolescents, adults, couples and seniors. He specializes in gender identity issues and domestic abuse. In his free time he enjoys yard work and gardening with his neighbors and helping his brother build.

  • Deena Davis, LPC, LPCS- Deena is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. She attended Baylor University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications: she also attended University of Texas-Tyler, where she received her Master's degree in Psychology/Sociology. Deena has worked as a counselor in the schools for over 25 years. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and children as well as sewing and quilting.

  • Angeline Watts, Doctoral Intern: Angeline is a third-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student at UT Tyler. Angeline has her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Angeline practices a person-centered approach, using CBT and ACT in service of her clients living a full and meaningful life. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with her friends and family. 

  • Jinu Mathew, Doctoral Intern: Jinu Mathew is a 3rd year doctoral student at the University of Texas at Tyler. He attended Texas A&M University and received an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences. He utilizes a mixed approach that combines aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness. He is very interested in the treatment/processing of anxiety, depression, and trauma. Jinu is open to seeing individual patients and couples of all ages and backgrounds. In his free time he enjoys fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.

  • Jacob Brooks, LPA Intern: Jacob graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Dallas Baptist University. He is currently working to obtain his Master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler. Jacob uses an integrated person-centered approach to therapy which includes techniques drawn from cognitive behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, as well as other modalities. He offers individual therapy to all ages, and particularly enjoys working with children and families.  

  • Kyle O'Brien:  Kyle is a fourth-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student at UT Tyler. Kyle has his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. Kyle uses a client-centered solution-focused eclectic approach grounded in Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He currently researches anxiety, depression, and suicidality in the Holistic Emotion and Attention Lab at UT Tyler. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and pets, outdoors in nature, and watching movies.

  • Sam Vanderburg: Sam is a Licensed Master Social Worker who is attaining hours and experience to test to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Sam graduated Lee University in Cleveland, TN, for his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education and then attended Texas A&M University at Commerce for his Master of Social Work degree. He has worked in and around surgery for 30 years and made this professional change out of desire to help others facing suicidal thoughts. Sam enjoys outdoors sports including hiking, hunting, and fishing but treasures his family time with his children, grandchildren, and now great grands.
